School may be off for winter break, but you can still mail in tax credit donations to the Phoenix Union school and program of your choice. As long as they are postmarked by December 31, you will get a dollar-for-dollar credit on your 2008 state taxes.
Married couples filing jointly can donate up to $400 Single taxpayers or a head of household receive a credit up to $200. The contributions can be made per school to designated athletic teams, performing and fine arts programs, organizations, clubs, and other student activities or to a general fund if no program is identified. The tax credit is available to all taxpayers, not just those with children in public schools. Tax credit brochures and contribution forms are available on the Phoenix Union website at www.phxhs.k12.az.us.
